What is Speed Dating?
Speed Dating is a scheduled, pre-registered event. It isn't mingling uncomfortably - it is one-on-one time with like singles. Each event is made up of a single demographic having several, chaperoned mini dates in one evening. Each participant has time to shine in a private, one-on-one mini date and you get to have eight (8) mini dates in one evening!

What age groups do you include?
We presently have ages 21-27, 25-33, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60+. If you don't see an age group that you fit in, suggest one at registration.

How exactly does an event run?
First, register and pay for your event; you will receive a confirmation email or phone call. You’ll be notified when your chosen demographic fills and be given two weeks to arrange your schedule. The night of the event, arrive at the venue twenty minutes prior to start time. Your hostesses will greet you, chat with you informally, providing a comfort level rarely offered at mixers. She’ll also provide you with a nametag (with a number, rather than a name, for anonymity), a match form, and a list of optional questions to ask your dates. Then you sit at your numbered table. Each conversation is timed, so when time is up, the gentlemen move on and meet the next lady. When all of the dates are complete, your hostess collects the match/no match form that is filled out by each participant. Then you stay and mingle or leave; the choice is up to you. No one is put on the spot or embarrassed, at the event, by matching or not matching. Only if the "spark" is there in both parties, do you receive each other's contact information the following day, via the facilitator.

How long do the events last?
It depends on the number of people at the event. Generally speaking, events last between 1-½ hours to 2 hours. It greatly helps us stay within our time frame if people show up to be signed in twenty minutes before the event. This helps us start on time.

What kinds of singles will be at my event?
Part of the registration form has you choose the race and education level of yourself and the singles you will meet. Ages include 25-60+ (in varying ranges - 6 years to 10 years). Races include Caucasian, African American, East/West Indian, Asian, and Latin.

What kinds of events are available?
All events are eight (8) mini dates. They all include only registered participants. They happen in the area that you choose from the questionnaire, so you’ll likely meet folks that live in that area.

When do I fill out the registration form?

Do I have to pay in advance?
No, but most folks do and it ensure everyone gets what he or she paid for. Paying first assures an equal number of men to women and you meet as many dates as possible. Filling out a Demographics Survey is less committed; therefore folks have a chance to change their minds, last minute. But this does allow your shyer friend to warm to the idea. How do I pay for an event?
You pay through check by mail or Pay Pal. Either (mail-in form or on-line registration) is found at Registration.

When will you be notified of the date/time/etc?
Be patient as some ages fill slower than others. But the moment your chosen event fills, we will notify you two (2) weeks in advance -- with all the details!

Will you remind me that an event I registered for is coming up?
We will notify you two (2) weeks prior to your event via email/phone call of the date/time/venue. Please remember that there are no cancellations or refunds within three (3) days of an event. So, write the date in your planner, on your refrigerator, or put it in your hand-held organizer, so that you won't forget!

Can I get my money back if I meet someone before the event?
Of course, as long as you cancel three (3) days prior to your event, we will be happy to refund you your money! Visit our Guarantee for more detail.

Can my friends and family without a computer or email still register for events?
Sure. They can simply print out a version of our mail-in Registration form and mail us a check!

What if an event I want to attend is sold out?
We want you there! Contact Us. If the event is up to three (3) days away, you can put your name on the wait list, at the very least. If someone cancels, we'll contact you and you'll have an opportunity to register for the event. If not, register to ensure your attendance at the next event or keep checking Upcoming Events for a nearly sold out event, of your chosen demographic.

What should I wear?
Since you'll be going on a minimum of eight dates at a nice venue, choose something that you'll feel great in! And chances are that most people will be coming, right after work. We offer a great list of tips for those who sign up for an event.

If I meet someone I really like, is it ok to ask for his or her phone number?
DEFINITELY NOT. The best thing about speed dating is that you do not set yourself up for embarrassing rejection. This method of dating ensures there is no pressure on anybody. We're sure you know how awkward it can be to have someone who you are not interested in ask to see you again. If the “spark” is there for both of you, we will notify both of you the next day, so be patient!

Can I sign up for more than one event?
We would love it! You can chose more than one demographic to meet, in your registration form. If you are in one of the betweens (25-33 and 30-40) sign up for BOTH. You can attend as many ExtraordinaryEncountersDating events as you like. Want to be put in the one that fills first? Fill out our Demographics Survey.

If an event specifies that it be for a specific age group/race, can I attend even if I don't fit in the category?
Yes and no. We will not turn any registered customer away from any of our events, even if you don't appear to fit the category. However, we do want to make as many matches as possible! People sign up for the event expecting to meet people in a particular category (be it age, race, or region). The solution is to fill out Demographics Survey form. Or if you don’t see the demographic that you would ideally chose, then fill in the blanks at the “Suggest a Demographic” field and we'll try to arrange an event that fits your wishes.

What if I don't make a match?
If the problem was that you didn't check anyone on your Match Form, re-evaluate the evening and remember when you choose a match it doesn’t mean you will have to marry him or her. It only means you may be interested in a second date. We do guarantee a match or you can come to your next event for ½ back at the registration table!

What happens if I lose patience waiting for my event to fill?

What if someone I matched with doesn't respond to my email or call?
Give it a few days and try them again. Many people don't check their email everyday or just be having a busy week. Even so, people change their mind. Please be courteous of others and “Do unto others . . .” A courtesy call is the most polite thing to do, if you change your mind about your interest.
