This Hampton Roads-based organization was conceptually organized late 2003 by its founder and President, Robin Gricol. Their preview event was hosted by The Lounge at the Holiday Inn Olde Towne Portsmouth December 2003.

"Speed Dating is designed for the busy, professional singleton," commented Mary Jones, Marketing and Promotions Director. "We wish to create a relaxed, private environment for singles to meet other singles in their demographic and leave with a smile on their face. We will make it a fun, learning experience so that striking up a conversation with a stranger won't be so awkward the next time."

Extraordinary Encounters Dating's concept is to copy the metropolitan trend of "speed dating". The facilitators have a mission: relaxed first impressions and fun! They facilitate the events together and stand by to serve as mentors to guide the participants. They give first-impression hints, explain what comes next, time the conversations, and mingle throughout and after the event. They collect the match/no match form and responsibly give contact information to both parties, but only if that spark is there on both sides.

On February 2005 EED teamed up with HRDating, which was founded by Ash Gilpin. Ash is also responsible for our website and all its great updates! OH and by the way; Ash is also single! I am working on a photo for the website.

On January 2007 EED brought aboard our partner Fred Ingels/Marketing and Promotions and life-long resident of Hampton Roads . His company Ta-Dah! Video Production created Extraordinary Encounter 's first TV commercial.

On february 10th 2009 Andrea Locke took over the company. Now she runs the business with her best friend Robin and founder of the company. We will be branching out and hosting events at other venues in the Hampton Roads Area. Thanks for all the member support and comming out to our events.
